Privacy Policy

The short version

MakersMetric is a set of free fabrication calculators. There are no accounts, no logins, and no server that receives your inputs. Every calculation on this site runs entirely inside your own browser. We do not ask for, collect, or store personal information about you.

The site is supported by advertising. Our advertising partner — currently Adsterra — and the demand partners it works with may set cookies or similar identifiers in your browser, which is described in full below.

Information we collect

Calculator inputs: values you type into any calculator (spool weights, printer costs, nozzle dimensions, and so on) are processed locally by JavaScript running on your device. They are never transmitted to us and we never see them.

Accounts and contact details: none. The site has no sign-up, no newsletter, and no contact form.

Server logs: this site is served as static files by our hosting provider, Cloudflare. Like any web host, Cloudflare processes standard technical request data (IP address, user agent, requested URL, timestamp) in order to deliver pages and protect against abuse. We do not use this data to identify individuals. Cloudflare's handling of that data is governed by its own privacy policy.

Cookies and advertising

MakersMetric itself does not set cookies for tracking or analytics purposes. When ads load, our advertising partner's script runs on this site and may store an identifier in this site's browser storage.

Ads on this site are delivered by Adsterra. Adsterra and the advertisers and demand partners buying through it may use cookies, device identifiers, IP address, and similar technologies to select ads, cap how often you see them, and measure their performance — including based on your visits to this and other websites.

Adsterra describes its own data handling in its privacy policy and lists the cookies it sets in its cookies policy, which directs users to their browser settings to refuse them. Adsterra does not participate in the IAB Transparency and Consent Framework and offers no opt-out tool of its own, so browser-level cookie controls are the reliable way to refuse it.

Industry opt-out pages such as aboutads.info/choices and youronlinechoices.eu cover their participating members, which may not include every partner buying through Adsterra.

If you are visiting from the EEA, the UK, Gibraltar, or Switzerland, no advertising is loaded at all: nothing is fetched from our advertising partner, and no advertising cookie is set. We show banner advertising only — we do not run pop-ups, pop-unders, or any format that opens an additional browser window.

We work out where you are in two steps. First we read your browser's time zone; if that already places you in the EEA, the UK, Gibraltar, or Switzerland, no advertising loads and nothing further happens. Only if it does not do we check the country your connection comes from, by asking our host Cloudflare to resolve the IP address it has already received for your request. That check returns a two-letter country code and nothing else — your IP address is not stored, logged, or passed to anyone, and the country is kept only in your browser for the rest of the session. Neither signal is exact: a VPN or a manually changed clock can still put you on the wrong side of it, and where the two disagree, or where either cannot be read, we show no ads rather than assume. Wherever you are, your browser's own cookie settings also block these cookies.

Most browsers also let you block or delete cookies entirely through their settings. Blocking cookies does not affect any calculator on this site — they will continue to work normally.

Your rights (GDPR / UK GDPR / CCPA)

Because we hold no personal data about you, there is generally nothing for us to export, correct, or delete on request.

We decide whether Adsterra's code is loaded on this site, so we share responsibility with Adsterra for that first step: the moment your browser is put in contact with it. What Adsterra and its partners do with the data after that is their own responsibility, and requests to access or delete that data should go to them directly — Adsterra's policies are linked in the section above. Questions about our part can be sent to the address at the bottom of this page.

If you visited from the EEA, the UK, Gibraltar, or Switzerland while the site still showed an ad consent banner, there is no consent left to withdraw: no advertising loads for you at all. Anything our advertising partner had stored in this site's browser storage is deleted the next time you load a page. It cannot delete cookies Adsterra may have set on its own domains; you can clear those in your browser settings.

Children

This site is intended for a general audience of makers, engineers, and hobbyists. It is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes materially — for example if we add analytics or a new advertising partner — the updated version will be posted here with a revised date at the top of the page.
